LAHORE: Amjad Islam Amjad, a literary giant, passed away in Lahore. He was 78. The renowned playwright suffered a heart attack and died. Some of Pakistan’s most significant cultural works have been written by Amjad, a poet, playwright, educationist, journalist, and literary critic.

Some of his huge repertoire’s most brightly shining stars include Waris, Samandur, Dehleez, Din, Raat, Waqt, Fishaar, and Inkaar. These plays are well-liked and well-known. Just a few of his wonderful, uplifting, and award-winning works include Shifting Sands, Ham Us Kay Hain, Sahilon Ki Hawa, Phir Yun Huwa, Zara Phir Se Kehna, and Itne Khawb Kahan Rakhun Ga.

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey presented him with the Necip Fazil International Culture and Art Award outside of Pakistan. One of the most significant poets in contemporary Urdu literature is Amjad Islam Amjad, the Turkish president is reported as saying during the occasion.
