Shortly after Mickey Arthur was named as Pakistan’s first “online” coach, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said that Arthur will serve as “team director” rather than head coach, according to sources on Monday.

According to sources, the board has decided to work with assistant coaches rather than head coaches, hence the role of head coach of the Pakistan cricket team has been terminated.

Along with the ex-South African cricketer, the PCB will appoint three assistant coaches for batting, bowling, and fielding.

Grant Bradburn, a former New Zealand Test cricketer, is expected to rejoin Pakistan’s cricket team, according to earlier reports.

The most likely candidate to take on the role of assistant coach for the Pakistan men’s team is Bradburn, who served as the team’s fielding coach from 2018 to 2020.

As team director, Arthur, who guided Pakistan to its first-ever ICC Champions Trophy victory in 2017, would oversee all operations.

However, in accordance with the anticipated deal, the former Pakistani coach won’t be accessible to the national team throughout the English county season.
