Messaging service owned by Facebook WhatsApp is always trying to improve the privacy and security of its users and is now developing a new feature that will enable users of the desktop version of the app to lock it down.
As per WaBetaInfo, this new update will make it possible for users to safeguard the desktop version of Whatsapp by setting a password for it.
Users of the beta versions of WhatsApp for Android and iOS already have access to this functionality. However, WhatsApp is now working on a method to bring the passcode option to the desktop beta.
As can be seen in the picture above, the customers will be required to key in a password each and every time they launch the program. This is helpful for folks who have more than one person using their computer.
According to the WhatsApp news tracker, “Note that activating this function is optional and possibly, the user will have greater control over it by selecting when the app should demand the password.”

Additionally, WhatsApp will not be aware of the password since it is always kept on the user’s device. If a user loses or forgets the password, they will be required to log out of the app and log back into the desktop by connecting the device with a QR code. This will be necessary for the event that the user loses or forgets the password.
Due to the fact that it is currently in the process of being created, this feature is not yet accessible. It is scheduled to become available in a subsequent update.
“As additional news, WhatsApp may also implement a feature that lets users lock the app by using Touch ID on a Mac when a fingerprint sensor is available,” it said.
