World Cup 2023: The Indian embassy finally starts granting Pakistani journalists’ visas

In a significant development, the Indian embassy has begun to process visas for Pakistani journalists who wish to visit the neighboring nation to see the ongoing Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023.

The embassy began reaching out to journalists on Tuesday who were interested in covering the major event taking place in India and instructed them to submit their passports as soon as possible.

The eagerly expected news broke a day after the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) once again expressed its disappointment with the slow processing of Indian visas for Pakistani fans and journalists, despite the World Cup 2023 being nearly a week old.

The massive cricket tournament started on October 5, but Pakistanis are still waiting for their World Cup visas from Indian authorities, which has left them in a precarious situation.

The PCB Management Committee Chairman Zaka Ashraf called Pakistan Foreign Secretary Syrus Sajjad Qazi and expressed grave worries and worry about the holdup in fans’ and journalists’ visas for India to cover the World Cup, according to a statement from the board.

Ashraf also asked the foreign secretary to raise the matter with the Indian Home Ministry via the Pakistan High Commission Office in New Delhi, according to the PCB.

According to ICC law, the host nation must grant fans and media visas so they can cover the events, but India has chosen to ignore Pakistan’s cries for help.

According to the statement, the board is deeply sorry to see that Pakistani journalists and fans are still in the dark regarding how to get an Indian visa in order to cover Pakistan’s matches at the ICC World Cup in 2023.

Meanwhile, the PCB reminded both the ICC and the BCCI of its responsibilities and the terms and conditions outlined in the host agreement to ensure that spectators and media of competing teams would have access to visas.
